I have taken a year's break from my present job to pursue a Graduate Diploma in teaching  from January 2012,in New Zealand.I was teaching western music in the last school and we did have a school choir.I was very impressed with your work and your talent.

In New Zealand I will also be doing music as a subject and I am sure I can ask students to get a membership to Carnegie and avail the great programme that Carnegie offers.

Thanks for the feedback. Will keep in touch...

Vijaya, teaching harmony is touch to do through theory and, in my opinion, depends on the ear of the singer and their familiarity with the style of music they are asked to sing. One tactic is to practice techniques and listening through familiar songs that are similar to the ones you are teaching. For example, in the Ragas to Rock project, we found similarities between an Indian song and a traditional African-American song; through showing the similarities between the two, were were able to give a better understanding to students from several very different cultures.

Can you tell me more about the size and skill level of the choirs you have been working? What do you anticipate in New Zealand?
