After 3 long hard weeks of work with members of Orchestre Francais des Jeunes, NYO Iraq completed its residency with a spectacular concert in Grand Theatre de Provence. Dave Edmonds, our cello soloist pulled off an excellent performance of the Saint Saens 2nd cello concerto, the first major romantic piece the orchestra has played since its beginning in 2009. Our Beethoven 8 received a standing ovation from a generous and loving full house.
We did a flashmob with Orchestre Francais des Jeunes, which you can see here:
Tomorrow, we're homeward bound to Iraq. We'll take the learning of the past three weeks, and rebuild the culture for future generations.
