(This is one of my most enduring songs but it's also from a very abstract period of my writing and I'm very hesitant about it.  It's just nonsensical at parts and I don't know if most people would understand the point underneath it... And yet I have this lovely violin piece set out for it and I know precisely how the music video goes so..)

Verse 1

I once fell

Into an open sky

I wondered why

It didn’t hurt

And Gravity waved

As she passed me by

I once felt

Like I was special

A comet in the air

Wish on me

Wish on me

Chorus

And no one told me

That it was cold up there

And no one told me

That life’s not fair

And no one told me

Nothing that I didn’t know

I didn’t know

I didn’t know

I didn’t know

Verse 2

I once sold

My very soul

Told the devil

I would go

If he smiled at me

Just one more time

I once made

An angel fall

I told her I would catch her

But she passed me after all

She passed me after all

Bridge

And no one mentioned

They were wrong

So I just tried

To play along

No one mentioned

That the wind could blow

So cold

End

And no one told me

That it was cold up there

And no one told me

That life’s not fair

And no one told me

Nothing that I didn’t know

(“No one told me”

“I once fell”

“Life’s not fair”

“So cold”)
