Sometimes without even realizing it, we shackle ourselves to other people. we must become what they want us to be. Be there for them even though in the process we simply lose ourselves. although we keep telling ourselves that we won't let anything or anyone change us, we slowly and steadily let our original self gather dust while our new self is out having the time of its life. Then one day the illusion shatters, the relationship becomes meaningless and we mourn the loss of not the…

I've tried and tried to exercise my mental muscles but my brain refuses to deliver an idea. i'm stuck and at the point of believing that i cannot write songs at all. but then i listen to my old songs and i cannot believe it is the same person. if the idea is right, the chords are not , if the chords are good the lyrics are not. it used to be so easy.

i want to write a song that just blows the mind of every song i've written till now . I need a muse. and words and a few interesting…

I was in kindergarten when I had piano lessons and when we had to move, that was the end of it.

When I was eight my mother forced me to go  learn Indian Classical (Vocal). I hated it at first but it began to seem interesting after a while. Then I was sent to boarding school in grade 9 which put a full stop to my classical music.

My room mate at school turned out to be a guitarist. When I started learning guitar 4 years ago my father thought I'd give it up…

Thanks Sneh. And yes maybe the title should be something like the pirates of the Caribbean. I'm more interested in what you think of the harmonic structure though since i'm new to composition. So what do you think? How can i improve this piece?

Hi Sneh! There was a new flute studio class video with Andreas Blau of the Berlin Philharmonic posted in the orchestra group. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Hello Sneh! I have been listening to your beautifully expressive singing  and was wondering if you'd like to connect for a voice lesson over Skype sometime - not necessarily to post on the site but to explore range & color possibilities. Message me any time!

The film score project is intended for composing on paper (or digitally), so no need for performers. you can upload a midi or audio clip from your computer. The winning composition will be performed and recorded by players here in New York. Check out software like Finale, Sibelius, and Noteflight for easy composing.

Otherwise, you could dig into some of the conversations in the Songwriting group - be a leader, share media, thoughts, articles, whatever you like. There will be a big songwriting project starting in a little while, so stay tuned.

You might also like the Musical Theater project going on. The Seven Ages. Try a new genre out, eh?
