Richard Li is now a member of Carnegie Hall Musical Exchange
Hey ya'll! I'm Richard Li, and I recently graduated from Southside High School in Greenville, SC back in June. Although I'm not a music major (I'm studying computer science at Tech!), I definitely plan to keep up with my clarinet, hopefully with the gig of a lifetime with the NYO.
I performed a lot throughout middle and high school. In school, I was always part of all the ensembles offered, and always trying everything - from playing saxophone in the jazz ensemble, to learning marimba for percussion ensemble, to drum major-ing in the marching band, to touching a brass instrument for the first time (french horn!) for symphonic band, I was always willing to try more music. Outside of school, I also played clarinet the Greenville County Youth Orchestras, where I was principal clarinet for 3 out of 5 years, as well as the All-County and All-State Bands and All-State Orchestra.
As a freshman in college right now, my musical life has slowed down some, but I still practice clarinet a lot (no parents to tell me stop practicing; and 24 hour practice rooms!), and go to marching band practice every other day where I play alto saxophone.
Anywhooooo, that's me! Hope to get to know ya'll, too!
