My other musical interests, styles, and instruments are:
I've studied composition for almost 7 years now, and I am now enrolled in the Music Composition program at New York University. I play a variety of instruments that I have managed to pick up, including recently the Viola da Gamba (a renaissance istrument) and the Penny Whistle.
My favorite artists, influences, and inspirations are:
I am a huge fan of Thomas Newman, Hanz Zimmer and James Newton Howard from the Film Scoring World. My classical inspiration definitely lies with Aaron Copland and the Americana style, but I also draw some more out-there influences from the likes of Stravinsky. I am also a big fan in the Indie world of Amanda Palmer/Dresden Dolls, and have a special affinity for the Prog Rock of the 90's.
More about me:
I am hugely into film scoring, but I have a mainly classical music background. I hope to break into that realm of media scoring as I am hugely interested in the story-telling that music can so powerfully augment. Over the recent years, I have become increasingly interested in the build-up aspect of my music, which I now consider one of my fortes (no pun intended).
