My favorite artists, influences, and inspirations are:
My dad is my biggest inspiration in my pursuit of studying music; he introduced me to piano and percussion and has been with me every step of the way. I love oldies, particularly The Beatles being my favorite band. My favorite style of music to play is jazz, and I love the contemporary jazz band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. As far as the classical genre goes, Rachmaninoff is my favorite composer. I simply relate to the music he composed; whenever I hear it I just instantly can connect to it. My music teachers all inspire me to be the best musician I can and work the hardest possible for success. I wouldn't be anywhere without them.
More about me:
I've been playing piano (my primary instrument) and percussion for 7 years, and have taught myself guitar and ukulele (for fun) for the past few months. I'm attending the University of Evansville, studying piano and music education.

Hi, Melanie. Thanks for your reply. Yes, my background is mostly in classical music, but I feel lucky to have the opportunity to work on all kinds of music now in Carnegie Hall's education programs. Right now, when I find time to play piano, I mostly work on Bach. I'm glad to hear a friend told you about Musical Exchange. Please share the site with any friends who you think might be interested. We're looking forward to welcoming a lot of new members to the site this year!
