Hi Louis!  I'm so proud of you for posting and you sound great.  I'm so glad you have invested in your voice - great dancer, great singer have it made.  First things first join the musical theater project which is our group and if you can transfer this post onto that page that would be great!  Ask Brett if you need help doing that.

So about your video!  Do me a favor when you sing this song try it a little slower - there is a lilt to the song that actually goes with the original choreography and the phrasing of the lyric.  And you feel that lilt more when it is slower.  Also it may be helpful for your pitch if it was a little slower - you could establish your tone center especially at the beginning if the pick ups "That Face" weren't so quick and also a bit more sung through.

Think about this carefully.  The articulation that Mel Brooks intended was for the word THAT to be long - sing through the vowel and the word FACE to be more clipped.  LONGGG short.

AND PS not that you will need this necessarily for an audition but keep in mind that Leo Bloom is not talking about Ulla's face...yuck yuck yuck (he's really talking about her other assets) and this articulation will really help make this point.

Make sure too that you never scoop up to the pitch.  Get to the vowel on the beat - UNWISE.  Remember in class when we talked about the word diphthong?  That I vowel is really what?  AHHHH plus a quick EE at the end into the SE - which here by the way is a ZE

You've done so well in class this year and I'm so happy to see you posting and really singing!

Best, Leslie
