Other
My other school or arts organization is:
Wexford Collegiate Institute
My style(s) of music:
A cappella, Choral, Classical, Jazz, Musical Theater, Opera, Pop, Rock
I am interested in:
Composing / Arranging / Songwriting, Music History, Music Theory, Performing, Writing Lyrics
My musical instrument(s):
Saxophone, Piano / keyboard, Voice
My other musical interests, styles, and instruments are:
I love anything from the 1920's and the 1940's, so anything with a swing. I play the piano, as well as the alto saxophone; although you can't really sing while playing a saxophone (if you can, it's a talent you should share).
My favorite artists, influences, and inspirations are:
I love The Andrew's Sisters, their three part harmonies are always stunning. Musical theatre wise, my biggest inspirations would have to be Sutton Foster; my dream would be to have her career.
More about me:
I am currently enrolled in Wexford Collegiate, a high school in Toronto, Ontario, dedicated to the arts; we are currently the National Show Choir champions. I have done numerous shows outside of school, my favourite rolls being Trix the Aviatrix in The Drowsy Chaperone, and the Narrator in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. I am also the Youth Representative of Youth Day, a charity that celebrates Canada's talented youth, which is presented in a large concert every summer at Younge And Dundas Square (Toronto's version of Times Square, if you will).I also take dance lessons in and outside of school, mainly focusing on jazz dance with a little ballet thrown in. I have been on the honour role every year of my high school career and hope to attend the Steinhardt school at NYU to get my BFA in Musical Theatre. From there my future take me to Broadway, London's West End, Stratford, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Toronto and anywhere else that I can pursue my passion of musical theatre. After I have established my career, I hope to open up an acting school, specializing in all areas of the performing arts, so I can give back to other passionate children and teenagers like myself.

Katie, congratulations on being part of such an important and impressive choir.  Were you in Lady Marmalade - it was a little hard to see individual faces in the video.  If it is your favorite, how about singing I Do, I Do in the Sky from Drowsy Chaperone.  Kecia Lewis Evans who originated the role on Broadway is a dear friend of mine.  I would love to hear that or whatever is in your repertoire now! Post soon!

Katie!  I think it is really easy to link to youtube videos and post on our project page or your page. Friend Jonathon Hampton if you are having trouble figuring that out!  And YES, post your own videos.  Part of this project is that you have a very captive audience daily in addition to some of our online chats with special guest artists, casting directors etc.

Hey Katie. Welcome to the community. I've added your school to our list, so you can update that profile question by clicking here on Settings. Great aspirations. Be sure to join the Musical Theater group here. Maybe say hi to Phoebe who's at the Globe.
