Profile Information

I am a:
Teacher, Performing Artist
My school is:
Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute
My style(s) of music:
A cappella, Classical, Experimental, Opera, Sacred, Traditional
I am interested in:
Multimedia Projects, Performing
My musical instrument(s):
My other musical interests, styles, and instruments are:
I studied Western classical music and opera for many years, and while I still utilize my training, I am now involved in more experimental music making, and even acting. For the past 4 years I have been an actress with the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards. At the Workcenter I worked with songs of tradition from West Africa, Haiti, and the south of the United States. I also play the flute and the accordion, and I just started experimenting with an autuharp which I inherited from my grandmother.
My favorite artists, influences, and inspirations are:
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, JS Bach, Gustav Mahler, Geeshi Wiley, Bjork, Bessie Smith, Reverend Gary Davis, PJ Harvey, Mark Rothko, Kurt Weill, the natural world, sound and space, Virginia Woolf, Jerzy Grotowski, Hafiz, Hazrat Inayat Khan
More about me:
After living in a small village in Italy for 4 years, I recently moved to New York City. It is interesting to me how the place that you live really comes into the work that you do and the music you make. And I just became a mom to a beautiful little baby girl!
