My musical instrument(s):

My other musical interests, styles, and instruments are:
I love all styles of music from opera to jazz, to orchestral and indie rock. Belting out old jazz standards is just as fun for me as singing opera arias. I enjoy playing cello in small ensembles or duets with friends. I also like a good spontaneous jam session with friends.
My favorite artists, influences, and inspirations are:
For opera vocalists, I love Natalie Dessay, Renee Fleming and Joan Sutherland. Other favorite singers are Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billy Holiday - and pretty much any singer with an enormous voice. My absolute favorite cellists are Jacqueline Dupre and Gautier Capucon. Right now I'm also really into Lang Lang - I even have his Adidas Giselle shoes! On the non-classical end, I listen to bands like Mumford and Sons and The Decemberists.
More about me:
I am from Minnesota but I now live in New York and I work in elementary school programs at Carnegie Hall. I love to share our music with the schools in and around NYC, across the country and around the world. I love to travel and learn foreign languages. I am fluent in Spanish and French and want to learn Arabic, and maybe Russian.
