More about me:
I'm a recently graduated, classically trained violist. I am currently student teaching towards my B.M. in Music Education. I believe every person has a birthright to music. It is my goal to do my small part in furthering a vibrant musical culture wherever I am, through being honest, expressive, interesting, fresh, and inclusive in my performances, by challenging my students, by volunteering, by advocating...
I love orchestra and chamber playing. I'm part of a piano/viola/oboe trio that's been together for two years. Last year we commissioned a new work from a student composer at our university. I am less experienced in folk music, improvisational music, and other music outside of the "classical" bubble, but I've had some great experiences that left me wanting more. I studied Austrian folk music for a few months while studying abroad in Vienna, took my first solo at an old-time jam in NYC last summer, and served as back-up violist when a friend of mine wanted to record a song. As a music educator, I love going to workshops on music and dance traditions from around the country and the world, and I try to dig in to all these interests a little at a time between teaching and practicing!
