The Somewhere Project

This season, in celebration of Carnegie Hall’s 125th anniversary, the Weill Music Institute is launching The Somewhere Project, a citywide exploration of West Side Story. This unique creative learning project will engage people through events in all five boroughs of New York City, anchored by a large-scale production of West Side Story. We invite you to participate through investigating West Side Story as a musical, engaging in dialogue about the important questions that it challenges us to encounter, and through sharing your own creative work and ideas! Visit the Somewhere Project homepage on Carnegie Hall's website to learn more about the exciting work happening around New York City, and explore the project's companion course to particiapte from your home community!

Happy Tuesday! Today the MAKING IT HAPPEN is with Emerson Steele, from VIOLET!! Emerson played Young Violet, which is the younger version of Sutton Foster's title character. She received tons of recognition for her work in the show, she had an amazing time, and she is only 14!!

Hi Guys - SO…this next MAKING IT HAPPEN is with Ari Groover, who made her Broadway debut in HOLLER IF YA HEAR ME. I am really sad that this show closed on Broadway (17 previews and 38 performances) - I saw it and it was really a moving show. PLUS how awesome to have an original musical with the music of Tupac, a totally new kind of musical than I have seen so far. I hope you love this episode!!

Hey Musical Theater people! Here's the latest from Making It Happen, this time I am interviewing MORGAN JAMES!! She is incredible because she is classically trained and a Broadway star who is now a recording artist! This episode is all about how she got started and her Broadway days:

Hey guys, I just read about this app called Cadenza. I watched the video and I think it seems really cool! I haven't tried it yet. I don't think the singing part is ready yet? But it looks awesome!

Hi Guys!! The next episode of Making It Happen is online now! It is with Lilla Crawford, who played Annie in ANNIE on Broadway, and she is also in the new INTO THE WOODS movie that is coming out later this year. She is talking about being a professional actor as a kid!! Also, we rode THE RIDE, which is a really fun bus ride experience in NYC - and interviewed one of the hosts, it is a great job to have to get improv experience if you are living in NYC!! THANKS so much for watching these videos and sending me messages - you can send me any questions and I will ask them in the next interviews I am taping. I have some awesome guests coming up!!!
